Green aurora borealis curling across the night sky above a lit cabin with the moon low on the horizon, by Carlton Soohoo

Travel & Teaching Photography · Chasing the Light

CarltonSoohoo

Chasing the light around the world, and teaching others to see it. Cinematic landscapes, quiet streets, wild places, and the long hours after dark.

Statement

I’d rather help you see it than tell you I saw it.

I’m a travel photographer and a teacher. I chase the light wherever it leads: to cinematic landscapes and quiet streets, to an animal that holds still long enough, to a face, to the last gold before the stars come out. Near home, and far across the world.

What I love most now is bringing people with me. I stand beside you when the light breaks and show you, in plain words, why a frame works, until your own photographs begin to look the way you always pictured them.

What I Photograph

It always comes back to the light.

Landscape, street, wildlife, portraits, the night sky. Five different worlds, and one patience in each: being there when the light turns, and waiting for the moment it goes gold.

Learn & Travel

Alongside the work, I teach. Privately, in small groups, and on a few photography journeys each year, to the places you see in these galleries.
